3 Tips to Deal With Cabin Fever Due To COVID-19

Being confined to the home due to COVID’s social distancing is the worst for those who love to be active. Luckily, there are ways to make use of these unprecedented times to keep you on your toes!

Learn Something New

During social distancing, you may have been hit with loads of boredom. One of the best ways to cope with this and, in the meantime, improve your mental health, is learn something new. Even though COVID isn’t ideal, you can still use this time to try things that you’ve never had time to before.

For example, how long has it been since you have put your creativity to the test? Break out the colored pencils, paints, glue, and colored paper to have the time of your life. Purchase some molding clay and try making a fun sculpture. Find some free video tutorials on YouTube and try your hand at guitar or piano or throw on that apron and learn how to make a fancy dessert. There is so much you can learn at home!

Get A Good Sweat Going

Even though you can’t hit the gym, that doesn’t mean you can’t get a good sweat and try a positive stress management technique while you are at it. Find some dumbbells or do some calisthenic exercises. Upload free cardio tutorials off the internet or have a dance party with those who are in the house with you. Exercise is a very positive stress management technique. It also helps to relieve the boredom or cabin fever you may be feeling.

Read A Good Book

Can’t travel outside your home? Well, that doesn’t mean that you can’t travel to the wondrous, fantastical place of a good book. Given the large quantity of eBooks or audiobooks available online (many for free), there should be no excuse to not be able to enjoy some classic literature.

Reading is a great way to destress and gives you some time to unplug. If you want to level up your reading experience, take the time to create a peaceful, quiet space where you can relax and enjoy your downtime.

Social distancing and confinement due to COVID doesn’t have to be all bad. There are plenty of fun and exciting things you can do to boost your mental health, mitigate boredom, and—hey—you may even find a new hobby while you are at it!
