A convergence of art

Portland’s Time-Based Art Festival (TBA) draws artists from across the country and around the globe for a convergence of contemporary performance and visual art.
Installations and live performances fill out theaters, temporary galleries, and unexpected public spaces throughout Portland, activating the city with art and energy. From morning workshops to afternoon salons and talks, to evening shows and late-night happenings, TBA is an all-hours forum for new ideas and experiences.
Modeled after international contemporary arts festivals in cities like Edinburgh and Adelaide, TBA is orchestrated by the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art.
Some of the highlights for 2015 include:
• Italian choreographer Alessandro Sciarroni’s FOLK-S, Will you still love me tomorrow? (Sept. 11–12);
• Ukrainian musicians DakhaBrahka (Sept. 19);
• Seminal French director Philippe Quesne (Sept. 17–18); and
• Pioneering sound artist Akio Suzuki (Sept. 17–Oct. 11).
Every night of TBA’s 10-day run, a Central Eastside warehouse hosts “The Works,” where artists and attendees can grab a drink and check out rock shows, drag balls, installations, sonic experiments and more.
