Admission free on MLK Day at Washington State Historical Museum

martinThe kids are out of school so take them to get a real history lesson at the Washington State Historical Museum in Tacoma on Martin Luther King Day. Admission is free to all January 18, 2016.
At 2 pm, artists from Onyx Fine Art Collective will lead a hands-on family program discussing selected works from their exhibit “A Decade of Art,” currently on display in the WSHM Community Gallery. As part of the program, visitors will be encouraged to create their own artwork inspired by the artists’ presentations, themes, and styles.
Following the program by Onyx, join us at 3:30 pm in the museum auditorium for “Get on the Bus,” a play merging the stories of generations of civil rights activists—from the Freedom Riders of the 1960s to the DREAM activists of today—produced by the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts.
