Bellevue College Gallery Hosts ‘Women Empowered’ Photo Exhibit

phil-borges-300x300The Bellevue College Gallery Space will host “Women Empowered,” a photography exhibit from Phil Borges Sept. 30 – Oct. 30, 2015 with a public reception with the artist on Sept. 30 from 4 – 7 p.m.
“Women Empowered” is a celebration of women and girls– mostly in developing countries — who have broken through barriers to become catalysts for change in their communities. Their stories shed light on specific gender issues worldwide while revealing practical pathways for women and girls to achieve gender equality.
For over twenty-five years Borges has been documenting indigenous and tribal cultures, striving to create an understanding of the challenges they face. His work is exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide and his award winning books, which have been published in four languages, include Tibetan Portrait, Enduring Spirit, Women Empowered and Tibet: Culture on the Edge.
He has hosted television documentaries on indigenous cultures for Discovery and National Geographic channels. Borges also lectures and teaches internationally.
