Boomer site explores travel

The #1 leisure activity for the baby boomer generation is travel and they spend $157 billion on trips each year.

That caught the eye of Liz Dahl, a former travel agent and PR consultant who also happens to be a boomer. Noticing that most people contacting her were in her age group, she saw that advertisers were not talking to them. They covet the 18-49 age group, but we’re the ones who control 70% of U.S. disposable income.

Liz gathered a team of fellow baby boomers that enjoyed or were engaged in various aspects of travel and created a website with this demographic’s perspective. She teamed with Don Anderson, a fellow boomer and IT specialist and created a site that offers resources of travel information so the sixties generation can go to one site that doesn’t sell anything, but provides an enormous amount of information in addition to the views of the Patrol.

The Patrol offers personal perspective and experiences and then invites the public to share their knowledge at the end of each review by contributing recommendations, tips and favorite places. Currently, the categories for the Boomer Travel Patrol are: Sports; Luxury; Off the Beaten Path; Pet; RV, Tour; Air; Hotel; Food; Island and Guest (which covers areas not covered by the Patrol).

Another unique feature is a weekly travel crossword puzzle created for them by Myles Mellor, one of the most published crossword writers of all times.
