Head to Golden Gardens Park for Beach Fun

event_17001347Whether you are a local or visiting from out-of-town, Golden Gardens Park overlooking Puget Sound is a wonderful outing. Golden Gardens is located at 8498 Seaview Pl NW in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle and boasts extraordinary views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
If you’ve got kids or grandkids, they will thank you for the chance to get down and sandy on the beach. Meanwhile, adults can look out over the Sound to the mountains, watch yachts come and go from Shilshole Bay Marina and keep an eye out for sea lions patrolling the beach for dinner (fish, not kids!)
Enjoy a campfire on the beach at Golden Gardens Park!
Please light a fire ONLY in designated fire pits, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Burn only clean firewood (NO pallets please!), and douse your fire completely before you leave. Acceptable firewood is natural, bare, clean, dry cord-wood. It’s against the law and it’s unhealthy to burn yard waste, wood with nails or paint, refined lumber of any kind (whether treated or not), construction debris, or anything else one would burn just to dispose of it. See more rules and regs below.
A recent project restored two wetlands, established a short loop trail, and restored the northern beach. Golden Gardens offers strolls along a rugged coastline, hikes through forest trails, sunbathing on sandy beaches, fishing from a pier and a boat launch. goldengardens_volleyball
The park is also home to an off-leash area for dogs in the upper northern portion of the park. Dogs are not allowed on beaches, or children’s play areas in Seattle parks, per the Seattle Municipal Code.
Beach Fire Rules:

  • Beach fires are a privilege; light a fire ONLY in one of the installed fire containers, numbered from 1 to 12, west of the picnic tables. (Seattle Municipal Code 18.12.270)
  • Use only clean, dry firewood.
  • Please douse your fire with water, not sand!
  • Fires are not allowed during air pollution alerts; we will post signs. (SMC 18.12.270)
  • Please don’t remove any materials from the park, beach, dunes or forest. (SMC 18.12.070)
  • Please dispose of trash and ashes in the containers provided for each. (SMC 18.12.260)
  • Be considerate of others–please, no loud or amplified music! (SMC 18.12.170)
  • Remember, no alcohol is allowed, and parks are drug-free zones!
  • Remember, the park closes at 11:30 p.m. and the parking lot is locked!
