High desert photography exhibition

“High Desert Dreams: The Lost Homesteads of the Fort Rock Basin” photography by Rich Bergeman
Corvallis photographer Rich Bergeman takes a photographic look back in time to Oregon’s homestead era in an exhibition at the Benton County Historical Museum from Sept. 30 to Oct. 29, 2016.
An opening reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“High Desert Dreams: The Lost Homesteads of the Fort Rock Basin” chronicles a nearly forgotten chapter in Oregon history, when hundreds of pioneers flooded the high desert in the early 1900s, only to abandon their homesteads within a decade, leaving the landscape littered with deserted cabins, idle windmills and hollowed-out towns.
An exhibiting fine art photographer for the past 30 years, Bergeman’s focus in recent years has been on the vanishing traces of Oregon’s bygone days on both sides of the Cascades. His work can be seen at richbergeman.zenfolio.com.
Enjoy a visit to Oregon’s past AND present! The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 – 4:30. Admission is always free!
