La Connor Invites Visitors to Brew on the Slough 2015

la_conner_beer_festival_brew_slough-249x300Another Oktoberfest event you might be interested in takes place in pretty LaConnor in Washington’s tulip country in the Skagit Valley. The La Conner Beer Festival – Brew on the Slough 2015 is happening on Saturday, October 17th. Tickets cost $25 per person and include 10 tastings.
La Conner is also part of the Salish Coast region where Skagit Valley Malting is making malt from grains sourced in the Valley.  Malt is to beer what grapes are to wine and introducing new and existing varietals heighten flavor and creates unique terroir.  Or how they sum it up – Taste the Place.
La Conner and the Skagit Valley invite all to taste some awesome beer, and also to experience the beauty of the Valley where our soils are rated in the top 2% in the world and the climate here is unique to North America. It enjoys the marine influence, long dry days during harvest but no drought stress during the majority of the growing season.
The latitude and the ocean allow it the benefit of cool nights and moderate heat during the days as well as mild winters allowing many good winter barley and wheat varieties to grow here.  This all means beer is only going to get better!
