Lake Quinault Lodge in the Fall

We are blessed with many world-class destinations in the Northwest and one of the most remote total getaways is the Lake Quinault Lodge on Washington’s Northern Coast.
Built in 1926, the rustic lodge welcomes guests with warmth, hospitality and a sincere feeling of home-away-from-home comfort. Remote and built during the era that brought us Timberline and Mount Rainier National Park Lodge, this lakeside gem is the place to stand back an appreciate nature and our forebearers’ wisdom.
The Main Lodge rooms give guests a taste of days gone by, and real sense of our charming history. The cozy rooms have an antique ambiance and provide easy access to the Lodge’s amenities – from the indoor pool to the Roosevelt dining room. Enjoy a warm drink by the fireplace, a spectacular meal or take a quick dip in the shimmering lake.
In 2008, Lake Quinault Lodge was proudly featured in “Great Lodges of the National Parks” on PBS. Please note that all rooms offered in the Main Lodge are non-smoking and non-pet friendly. We recommend the Main Lodge rooms to those guests that want to experience the charm of the 1920’s era and the character of this old lodge.
Many visitors believe the forest to be at its most beautiful during the late fall and winter rainy season when the epiphytic mosses growing in long strands from the tree branches turn brilliant chartreuse. Big leaf maples form a dense canopy of giant yellow leaves over the forest and vine maples burst into brilliant orange, salmon, yellow and red every autumn.
The king, coho, sockeye and chum salmon return to these waters and can be seen along the small tributaries of the Upper Quinault River as they spawn in the shallow water. Up to 100 bald eagles frequent the valley during the winter return of the salmon and enjoy this important food resource.
The Quinault Rain Forest provides a field day for outdoor lovers as well as photographers of all skill levels year round. Fall is a great time to play outdoors!
