Get ready for Seattle’s first big blowout of the summer!
Now in its 43rd year, Seattle’s Northwest Folklife Festival returns to the Seattle Center Memorial Day Weekend May 27-30. Festival programming begins at 11:00 a.m. and concludes at 10:00 p.m. from Friday until Sunday. The Festival runs from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday. Food vendor hours may vary.
Because the Northwest Folklife Festival is a community-powered event that means it needs guests to make donations. It will accept donations of any amount. When asked, the organizers suggest a donation of $10 per person, per day (or $20 for family/groups).
As usual there will be an unbelievable amount of art, music, storytelling and fun for kids going on the entire four days. You will enjoy everything from contra and Cajun dancing to polkas, poetry, films and fiddles; sea chanties, spoon playing and to Scandinavian storytelling. In 2015, the Festival featured 133 community showcases, 5,000 performers on 25 stages, 160 street performers, 90 hours of participatory dance, Kid’s Discovery Zone, and about 235,000 folks in attendance.
