Portland Hops with Brewery Tours

brewvana-tourIn Portland, Oktoberfest isn’t limited to one-month a year. In the City of Roses it is Oktoberfest virtually every day of the year.
With more than 60 breweries in Portland city limits, where is a beer-loving visitor to start? Thankfully, the city abounds with organized beer tours to help you see the sights and sip the suds. The following beer-centric walking, pedaling, bus and private tours are perfect for visitors in town for a few days or locals looking for a new way to experience Portland brews.
Brewvana
Brewvana’s three 14-passenger buses decked out with beer and Portland paraphernalia whisk thirsty passengers on regular tours of various breweries. The all-inclusive tours, offered daily, also include a souvenir Pilsner glass, pretzel necklaces, a beer journal and tasting guide, food and a knowledgeable guide.
BrewCycle
BrewCycle gives groups of 8-15 rider-drinkers (they don’t all have to be from the same party) a unique trip to four central-city breweries on a giant, Dutch-inspired pedal-powered vehicle. Tours begin and end at the BrewStop, the group’s Pearl District berwpub, featuring food, local beers on tap and happy hour deals. The company also offers a BrewBarge drinking experience on the Willamette River.
Pedalounge
Pedalounge offers scheduled, two-and-a-half hour tours of Southeast Portland breweries several days a week on their Dutch-inspired bicycle built for 15. Leader Lloyd gets groups rolling and lets them help determine which breweries to visit; they also offer private, custom group tours.
BeerQuest PDX
Downtown-centric walking tours from BeerQuest PDX include the basic Portland Brewery Tour as well as a Haunted Pub Crawl for anyone who prefers some “boo” in their beer. With less than a mile of walking, tours visit several locations and include two to six samples at each stop.
