Recreate in Lakewood

Lakewood, the second largest city in Pierce County, Wash., offers myriad recreational opportunities for residents and tourists.
The city boasts five lakes offering water skiing, rowing, and fishing, four golf courses, Fort Steilacoom Park, historic Lakewold Gardens, Thornewood Castle and Grand Prix Raceway.
The city also is the gateway to: Chambers Bay Golf Course, selected as home to the 2015 U.S. Open; Mt. Rainier National Park; and Puget Sound waterways and islands.
Visitors can fill their day with fun activities by taking a trip to take a trip to indulge in indoor kart racing at the Grand Prix Raceway and try their luck at any of the several casinos located in Lakewood adjacent to I-5.
Lakewood also boasts several shopping locations, including the Lakewood Towne Center and a large International District between 80th and 108th on South Tacoma Way. The Best Western Lakewood Motor Inn is a popular choice for outdoor enthusiasts and families, and includes a beautiful colonial setting close to all major area attractions. The motel is across the street from Lakewood’s Historic Colonial Center built in 1937, and one of the first suburban shopping centers in America.
The City is a foodie haven, with a wide variety of multi-cultural restaurants including French, Korean, German, Indian, Filipino and many other food-type eateries are available plus tea rooms. Lakewood is also home to the family-owned Stina’s Cellars, a tasting room and destination for wine aficionados.
