The Washington State Legislative Session that started in January is an eight week, short session and it’s going to be fast and furious with high stakes for the environment and Washington communities.
This year, the Environmental Priorities Coalition has made an unprecedented decision to select only one priority campaign – Safeguard Our Environment. In the face of stark political division and threats to our essential environmental protections, the organization is drawing a line in the sand for clean air, water, and resilient lands by protecting the environmental and public health progress made over the past decade.
This session, cornerstone environmental protections will be attacked with the argument that protecting our environment means economic catastrophe. Coalition officials said this is not true and that a clean environment, a prosperous economy and thriving communities go hand-in-hand.
The coalition is working to protect existing laws and investments around clean energy, clean air, clean and abundant water and healthy lands.
