Senior Day Harvest Festival at the World Forestry Center

(Portland, Oregon) Seniors 62 years and older will be treated to a discounted admission at the World Forestry Center Discovery Museum during Senior Day on Wednesday, October 23 from 9am to 2pm. Admission is only $3 per person. The event is open to individuals and groups, but groups of 10 or more are encouraged to pre-register at www.worldforestry.org or by calling 503-488-2147.
This year’s Harvest Festival theme will include cider and snacks, pumpkin decorating, bingo with prizes and goody bags. The event encourages seniors to explore the World Forestry Center Discovery Museum with their family, friends, and peers. Guests this year will be able to see the current special exhibit: “Nature’s Beloved Son: Rediscovering John Muir’s Botanical Legacy.”  The exhibit traces Muir’s travels to Canada, Indiana, the American southeast, California, and Alaska, and presents vivid images and specimens of the actual plants Muir held in his hands, carried in his pockets and preserved for all time. Exhibit is included with museum admission.
The World Forestry Center Discovery Museum is located in Portland’s Washington Park and offers interactive and fun exhibits that engage visitors to learn about forests and environmental stewardship. Visitors can take a simulated white water raft ride, try their smoke jumping skills, or see the forests from a bird’s-eye-view on the canopy bridge.
The Forest Store is located inside the museum and offers unique gifts and souvenirs.
The World Forestry Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization. The Discovery Museum is located at 4033 SW Canyon Road just five minutes from downtown Portland, just off Highway 26.
