SLEEPY HEMET ISN’T SO SLEEPY ANY MORE

While Golden Village Palms is unique because of the depth and variety of activities and entertainment it offers, RV resorts that cater to snowbirds find it behooves them to offer activities and entertainment.
“It’s the Baby Boomers,” said Debbie Sipe, executive director of the California Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. “They like to be entertained, and they specifically seek out parks that offer a wide variety of activities and entertainment.”
As a result, she said, RV parks and resorts that offer the most activities and entertainment tend to be the busiest during the winter months.
Golden Village Palms offers more than 200 different classes, including woodcarving, stained glass and cooking. Many of the classes are exercise oriented.
“Just today,” Carle said, “we have sand volleyball, water volleyball, water aerobics, Zumba, meditation, Tai Chi and low impact aerobics. We’re trying to offer fun ways for people to stay limber and stay healthy.”
Golden Village Palms also interacts closely with Hemet’s business community by inviting different local restaurants to come to the resort’s swimming pool area at lunchtime to introduce their menu offering.
“They sell their lunch items poolside,” Carle said. “This way, the guests get to try it and it introduces them to our local restaurants.”
Golden Village Palms RV Resort is owned and operated by La Jolla, Calif.-based Sunland RV Resorts.
