(Vancouver, WA)   Grab your favorite gown or tuxedo!  The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s annual gala, “Swinging on a Star,” combines 1930’s elegance with some of the greatest music ever composed, all benefiting the orchestra.
To be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Gaiser Hall on the Clark College campus, the annual fund-raiser will feature cocktails, dinner and a variety of music.  Guests will be entertained with the greatest music of the 1930’s and 1940’s, featuring the Woody Hite Band and guest vocalist Valerie Day.  Whether you want to dance to the tunes of the era, or simply let the music take you on a stroll back in time, this evening will appeal to all music lovers.  Catering for the event will be by Beaches Restaurant.
“It promises to be a night of unparalleled elegance as we celebrate one of the greatest years in The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s 35 year history,” said VSO Board Chair Kathy McDonald.
Proceeds from this annual event support the Symphony’s budget for purchasing music, concert production and performances, as well as ongoing educational programs and community outreach.  Major sponsorship of the gala is provided by Propel Insurance Company. VSO Board member Elizabeth Dendy is the event chair.
Registration, the “Get Jazzed Hour” and silent auction begin at 5:30 PM, followed by dinner and live auction from 7-9 PM.  The master of ceremonies is Kim Capeloto, Executive Vice President at Riverview Community Bank and features an appearance by The VSO’s Maestro Salvador Brotons. Music and dancing will follow the auction.
Gaiser Hall is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way in Vancouver.  Cost of the event is $100 per ticket and tables of eight are available by calling (360) 735-7278 or going towww.vancouversymphony.org.
