Known as the Apple Capital of the World, the Wenatchee/Columbia River Valley is lush desert than when irrigated grows some of the finest apples, pears, cherries and apricots on the globe. As you drive toward Chelan along the Columbia River on Hwy 97-A, look for the Rocky Reach Dam Visitors Center. This is a great place to picnic, stretch the legs and run the kids. North in Entiat stop at the Columbia Breaks Fire Interpretive Center.
