Northwest Senior Games promotes positive aging
The Northwest Senior Games (NWSG) is an incorporated non-profit organization created to promote health, fitness, and a positive image of persons age 50 and better through participation, competition, education and social engagement.
The purpose of this partnership is to provide the opportunity to participate in social, competitive, recreational, and athletic events that:

  • Creates an awareness of the abilities and capabilities of people age 50+.
  • Helps to maintain and improve health and wellness.
  • Promotes an interest in lifetime sports, recreation and physical activity.

In partnership with the Seattle’s Lifelong Recreation Programs and other Parks and Recreation Departments including Mercer Island, Kirkland, Redmond, Shoreline, and Bellevue, the Northwest Senior Games began as the Greater Seattle Senior Games in 1998 starting with eight sports with a festival weekend format.
The games have now grown to more than 12 sports and are becoming a year-long program of events and activities. More than 500 senior athletes competed in the events.
