I thought really rock-bottom prices for a float or white water trip were so a thing of the past. Or if they did happen, the special was for only a weekday when working folks couldn’t benefit.
But fortunately TravelZoo and Triad River Tours have teamed up for two really well-priced tours available April 1 – Sept. 30, 2015.
Named by Sunset Magazine as one of the West’s Most Unique Rafting Trips, the Skagit River in Washington float trip costs $29 and includes a two-hour stop with a complimentary wine tasting at Eagle Haven Winery in Sedro-Woolley. The three-hour white-water rafting trip on Upper Skagit River has family-friendly conditions (class 2-3) and costs $85.

The white-water trip

According to Triad’s website this is an instructional trip that is designed to introduce clients to whitewater and educate the general public on contemporary use of equipment on whitewater rivers. A great early season run when other rivers are dangerously high and also a beautiful and exciting trip for the family in later summer and early fall when temperatures are up and the sunny skies come to the Skagit to invite a great tourist season in the North Cascades region.
The Skagit brings the wonder of nature and a wild flowing river guests new to whitewater will be given instruction on safety, prevention, and rescue procedures, and a nice 9 mile trip through one of North Americas most gorgeous rivers. The Skagit is a mild river in comparison, but it’s also very powerful; it’s a great way to introduce someone to the sport.
If you have never been in a whitewater situation, it makes sense to take this trip first. This trip is considerably tamer than the power-packed Sauk River Whitewater trip, but does have a section of nice rapids with big, fun waves.
