Perhaps you have heard these names roll off friends’ tongues with tangible delight: angel’s wings, chicken-of-the-woods, matsutake, red capped scaber stalk, shaggy mane…
You guessed it! These are all names of much-prized, locally-found mushrooms.
To make it easier to indulge in the fall mushroom harvest and all things mushroomy, the Long Beach Peninsula once again hosts its annual Wild Mushroom Celebration Oct. 1 – Nov. 15.
In brief, the celebration is timed with the peak harvest of autumn’s bounty and touts the talents of the Peninsula’s famed culinary community and the wealth of the area’s fresh local ingredients during such gatherings as tastings, discussions and winemaker dinners.
