Museum displays Macklemore & Ryan Lewis costumes

SEATTLE—Several prominent Macklemore & Ryan Lewis costumes and props are now on display at EMP Museum.
Exclusive to EMP, a special section in the exhibit dedicated to the four-time Grammy-winning duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will include the actual fur coats worn in the Thrift Shop video; The Heist flag, Macklemore’s fur jacket and wolf hat from Can’t Hold Us; MTV “Moonman” awards; as well as many other costumes and artifacts.
The installation also features an original exhibit film about the team’s creative process with rare behind-the-scenes production footage. A Thrift Shop photo op will let visitors don fur coats and pose in front of a backdrop from the opening scene of the music video. And EMP’s performance interactive, On Stage, will feature Thrift Shop as one of the songs visitors can select to perform in front of a virtual audience of screaming fans. Spectacle: The Music Video opened in May.
Through a dynamic mixture of interactive installations, recreated sets, projections, videos, objects, and immersive environments, Spectacle is the first exhibition of its kind. It goes behind the scenes of seminal moments in music video history—from the early pioneers and MTV masters who expertly used the medium to define their public identities like Devo, Beastie Boys, Michael Jackson, and Madonna, to artists like OK Go and Lady Gaga who follow in their footsteps today.
