Vancouver, WA − Starting Oct. 1, a local network of “in-person assisters” will help residents who lack health insurance compare plans and enroll in health insurance for coverage beginning January 1.
Part of the Washington Health Benefit Exchange’s Customer Support Program, the in-person assisters will answer questions about new types of health coverage options and financial help for qualifying consumers through Washington HealthPlanFinder.
“We are working hand-in-hand with numerous organizations in Southwest Washington to let residents of all income levels know about the new health plans, enrollment process and how to find plans that fit their needs and budgets,” said Janis Koch, Clark County Public Health program manager. “We encourage everyone to get coverage.”
People wanting to get one-on-one support to find and enroll in a suitable health care plan can contact participating assister agencies. They include:

All health plans offered through Washington HealthPlanFinder meet strict benefit and quality standards and cover essential benefits, including doctor visits, hospital stays, prescriptions and regular check-ups. An individual earning up to $45,000 and a family of four earning up to $94,000 a year may qualify for financial help toward premiums and copays. Free and low-cost coverage also is available.
Clark County is one of 10 lead organizations selected by the Washington Health Benefit Exchange to coordinate local in-person assister networks. Statewide, the exchange is partnering with nearly 100 community organizations, including public health agencies, coalitions and regional health networks, to help with education and enrollment in local communities.
