New Arts Festivals Come to Eugene, Cascades & Coast

The Eugene, Cascades & Coast region is bursting at the seams with creativity this summer. Check out these two brand new art festivals.
Inaugural Cascadia Music Festival
This summer marks the beginning of a new summertime tradition of live music in one of Eugene’s most beautiful parks. The inaugural Cascadia Music Festival kicks off the concert series July 5, 2013, at Emerald Meadows, Lane County’s newest festival venue near Mt. Pisgah Arboretum.
Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers and Railroad Earth lead this rocking lineup. This year’s show is just a teaser for what’s to come in the future. Cascadia organizers hope to turn the festival into a multi-day event and attract other big names to this beautiful woodland treasure.

Create! Eugene, 180+ workshops
Learn to paint (almost) like Picasso, dance like you don’t care if anyone’s watching and cook with curious ingredients like kohlrabi at Create! Eugene, August 1-31, 2013. The month-long celebration of the arts is your chance to explore your creative side. Local, regional and nationally-known artists will lead workshops for all skill levels at venues in and around the Eugene and Springfield metro area. There are nearly 200 classes to choose from, covering all corners of the arts from watercolor to sculpting to dance to cooking to music and textiles.
The Plein Air Paint Out, a special component of Create! Eugene, will feature plein air workshops and demonstrations. Artists can also set up easels and paint a city scene or landscape for a one-day competition. Paintings will be put on display and judged in Kesey Plaza that night, followed by a multi-day art exhibit at DIVA Gallery.
