Summer Farmers Market comes to Fife

Fife, WA – The City of Fife is home to the newest Farmers Market in Pierce County.  The first-ever Fife Farmers Market will run every Wednesday until August 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Every week the market will sprout up at Fife City Hall and the adjoining Centennial Park at the corner of 54th and 23rd Streets.
The Fife Farmers Market will initially host about20 vendors selling local farm-fresh produce, prepared and processed foods, handcrafted items, and lunch-ready foods.  Their stalls will line Centennial Park and a portion of Fife City Hall’s parking lot.
Creating a Farmers Market was a goal earlier identified by the Fife City Council and Fife Mayor Robert Cerqui played an integral role in making it happen.  As a farmer himself, Mayor Cerqui knows firsthand the importance of the availability of fresh produce in a City with a rich agricultural history.
“I am excited to have this amenity for our residents, businesses and visitors and hope that this can be community treasure for years to come,” Mayor Cerqui said.
“The addition of the Fife Farmers Market helps us to deliver on our mission to enhance the quality of life for our constituents,” Fife City Manager Dave Zabell said, adding that, “Fife is both a pleasant residential community and a vibrant center of commerce.  A Farmers Market is something for which our residents, the thousands of employees who work in Fife, and the tens of thousands traveling through the city each day have expressed a demand – there is little question that it will be a success.”
