Artist creates vibrant fantasy worlds

Longtime Woodland artist Andrea Traphagen paints her original watercolors and acrylics in vibrant hues…taking you from fantasy worlds to old world to current times.

With the stroke of a brush and a vivid imagination, Andrea’s paintings transform you into a world of mermaids, dragon flies and old growth forests. She is currently exhibiting several of her artist prints at Ella Gray Home and Gifts in Kalama, Washington.

Traphagen’s most recent work, now on display at Ella Gray, includes the dragon-fly inspired “Dragonia” as well as equestrian-themed images of a romping horse round-up in “Dusty Run” and a hidden horse trail in “Birch Woods.” Several other Traphagen works are also on display at the Kalama shop.

I would define my work as impressionism with magical realism,” said Traphagen. “Some paintings are pure fantasy while others are realistic with whimsical elements.”

Ella Gray Home and Gifts, located at 210 North First Street, Kalama, features home décor, local handmade artisan products, plants, pots and baby gifts. Kalama resident April Hoffman owns the home and gift shop. For information, go to www.ellagrayhome.com or call 360-673-9247.

Traphagen also exhibits her work at Bay Avenue Gallery in Ocean Park, Washington, Sea Gypsy Gallery in Astoria, Oregon, and Turqoise House in Santa Fe, New Mexico. For further information, go to www.ActiveLifestylesNW.com and click on Northwest photo and art prints.
