Log home buyers want to entertain in retirement home

The majority of active log home buyers today want a home for retirement living where they can entertain at home according to a recent national survey.
Real Log Homes conducted the survey showing a total of 59% of active buyers plan to retire in a log home. At 44%, the biggest group said they were looking for a log home for retirement right now while 15% want to ease in with a vacation-to-retirement home, for a combined total of 59%.
This was followed by 28% who said they were looking for a dream home and only 7% were first time homebuyers.
“The results confirm our observations – a growing number of customers want a log home for senior living,” says Richard Neroni, president of W.H. Silverstein, Inc., in Claremont, New Hampshire, owner of Real Log Homes (http://realloghomes.com). The survey polled 12,000 buyers with 208 responding.
Neroni, a 30-year veteran of the log home industry, points out, “While we didn’t ask the respondents their ages, the concerns of younger homeowners were nearly absent. Fewer than 10% wanted to be close to work, children’s schools or transportation.”
Says Neroni, “Over the years log homes have evolved from log cabins that were used primarily for recreation into fulltime, residences with custom kitchens, luxury baths and every other modern amenity.”
